I have a Yamaha PSR-260, And I want to connect it to my PC. How would I do this? I know I have to have a certain cable, but which one? And where can I find software for my computer to play the keyboard with all different sounds and stuff.

You need a square ended USB cable. The square plug goes in the keyboard, the flat side goes into your PC’s USB port. This cable relays MIDI information between your keyboard and computer.

If you don’t have the software, you’ll have to download a USB/MIDI driver from Yamaha. Instructions here:

To use your keyboard as an input device for software synths, you can use a synth package like “Reason” from, or get a whole recording package such as Sony’s Acid, ProTools, Ableton Live, or others. They are pricy though. Google around for free demos you can download. I like Reason, it has infinite possibilites for music and sound production.
