What is a reasonable price to pay for piano lessons at 30, 45, 60 minute sessions.
I asked what would be a reasonable price based on your prior experience.

We have undergrad and grad degrees from fine conservatories, over 35 years of professional teaching experience, and a pile of other credentials – and the going rate we charge here (2 hours north of NYC) is $60 and hour. My husband continues to study at the post-who knows anymore level in NYC, with a professor from Manhattan School of Music – and he pays $125 an hour – and considers it a BARGAIN.

Mamianka gave you some reasonable prices for advanced studies, but this also depends on what tier you’re looking at. If you want a top-notch educator, do expect to pay forwards of $100, but If you are seeking less advanced, more informal classes, basic teachers will typically charge 10-$25/hour.

If you are curious as to how much you, as a teacher should charge, base your price on experience and knowledge of music/education of music. It is entirely up to you.

(Just as a note – my childhood teacher charged $20 per hour)

30 is what most teachers charge for an hour.. and then like 25 or 20 for a half hour
