Victor has just finished conducting at one of his 80th birthday concerts and the crowd reaction was so good that the violinist, Anton Kontra, suggests an encore. No encore was planned but Monti’s Czardas, which Victor had heard before BUT HAD NEVER PLAYED, is suggested. Nevertheless, the two go at it and put on quite a show. Watch Victor’s ****** expressions in the 2nd half as his partner escalates the action.

I don’t think Victor was the only one improvising here…Anton Kontra was doing a bit of his own, or at least around the 3:00- 3:15 he seems to be playing something based on ‘Beautiful Dreamer’… great stuff!

I have some of Victor Borge’s tapes and he is a wonderful pianist/comedian who has guest conducted many orchestras and has been in movies and Sesame Street. My apologies for the trivial information, but I have enjoyed watching Victr Borge for a long time and it is a shame that he has left us. Rest in Peace, Victor, or at least kepp them rolling in the aisles up there! XD

Victor Borge was simply unique. His style, talent, musicality and humor (last one is my favorite) will be missed. I’m glad some of his shows got recorded so it can be enjoyed for ever.

Wow, I’m in such a good mood now after watching this! Thanks.
