I loved this song since I first heard it in the 1970s. Of coarse this is the version I first heard and one of the most beautiful of all of them. There is something to this composition that sets off emotional responses.

The beauty is in the composition, and in the hands of Tomita it is profound.

I think they should make a movie based on this piece where Debussy actually is a frustrated composer who lives in the 1970′s or 80′s, composes this piece for synthesizer, and goes back in a time machine to 1900 to write it down and get it published. By now he knows that many composers’ music never “makes it” until after the composer is dead. I think it could be done – they made a wonderful film about H.G. Wells called Time After Time starring Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenbergen.

Awesome work! I’m 58 now and first heard this in the early 1970′s. Does anyone know if he’s still performing or making albums? Thanks.
