My teacher is going on vacation for the next month and a half. I really would like to continue learning during this time (not just practicing), and i don’t have any lesson books. Anywhere I could find some lessons online, and what you would recommend doing to strengthen my sight reading?

Thanks in advance =)

    thats if u are a total beginner…

thats to help u if u already know basics

that sight is the best of all and includes everything

as for sight reading… bring a blank sheet of music… right the notes on it… and memorise them by heart…. people right on the computer keyboard without looking… why… they memorised the places of the keys…. memorise the places of the notes and by time u’ll find urself rocking…

    hope i helped

memorize the positions of the keys. this is the basis of sight reading- cause you dont have to concentrate on where your fingers need to go. when i sight read, my fingers go where they’re supposed to so easily ’cause its instinct, i’ve racked my brain into that conciousness. learn exactly how far apart your fingers need to be when they’re doing octaves, and fifths, and fourths , and all that jazz.
practice on acheiving relative pitch. that’s really hard to do, and only around half of pianists posess relative pitch. unless you have perfect pitch, which is where you can sit down and play something without any sheet music by memory and you can say what note someone’s playing and if its sharp or flat by just instinct. very few people have this, and its almost never an accquired skill- youre born with it.
just find a few songs that you’d like to learn and try playing them without sheet music.
