Not all teachers advertise in the phone book… in fact, the best ones probably have a waiting list and fielding calls from phone-in students just adds to the problem.

I think the best way to find a teacher in your area is to ask around. If you know of other people who play piano, ask them about their teacher. Even if that particular teacher doesn’t have space s/he is likely to know of other area teachers.

Most teachers belong to the Music Teachers National Association and/or a state/regional chapter. If you cannot find a local teacher readily by word of mouth, contacting the MTNA may help.
