The organ cables just run directly into the speaker. I would like to know if theres a way to make a direct line out with a 1/4 inch guitar cable so I could use effects on the organ or make it louder through an amp.

It is possible, but more info is needed to determine how.

Some organs had an amplifier inside the speaker cabinet. If so, the signal can be interrupted before the speaker cabinet and fed into a different amp. If the amp is inside the organ itself, you must find the point where the signal from the organ circuitry is fed to the internal amplifier. Then you can install a jack for an external line output.

You are probably best off enlisting the help of a tech. It would be helpful to him to have a schematic diagram of the instrument if it can be found.

[edit] Good point about the volume pedal!

Franco is right about where to break the signal for a 1/4 jack – but keep this in mind too. The volume pedal on some organs was connected to the internal amplifier – this means if you break the signal before the amp, you wouldn’t have volume control with the pedal. It would just be a constant line-level signal.
